Why do these storks look brown?

It seems that these storks have been caught in the mud rain on their way north, with their plumage somewhat colored brown, in Les Masies de Voltregà, Osona region.

Above all, you can see the detail of the rain of mud on the feathers in the snapshot in which I have portrayed the storks when they are flying.

Many storks have already migrated towards northern Europe and, on the night I took these photographs for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos, 14 stayed in the Meandre del Despujol to continue the trip at mid-morning.

Mud rain is a meteorological phenomenon that consists of precipitation that carries solid particles in suspension that remain deposited on the ground.

These particles are due to Saharan dust due to storms in the Sahara Desert. Haze is an increasingly common phenomenon.
