In La Vanguardia Readers' Photos we are now located in a town in the Vallès Oriental region, Sant Celoni, where, like most towns, they already have Christmas decorations up in their streets.
Some streets where we can find lights, Christmas trees and, also, some Nadal art.
These types can be found on roundabouts, streets or, like the one in the photograph, or in some parks, as is the case of La Rectoria Vella. But what is a tio?
A tio is a small part of a tree trunk to which eyes, a nose, a mouth, a barretina and two twigs are added as little legs.
Tío, in Catalonia, is a well-established tradition. And if you walk through its towns it is very easy for you to find a guy covered with his blanket and food in homes, schools, hospitals, stores... Oh, and by the way! This trunk has the magic that on December 24th it defecates gifts under its blanket.
So, what can you do if you meet a guy on the street? Well, feed him so he can bring us many gifts.
