What is the oldest tree in Madrid?

I share these photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de la Vanguardia, almost for the first time, because a few days ago the olive tree that you can see has become the oldest tree in Madrid capital.

It holds this record although modest in size, about three meters high. Despite its humility, it has become the longest-lived tree in the capital Madrid, to which 627 years of age are attributed.

They have brought it from Carabaña and replanted it in El Retiro thanks to the initiative of A Tree for Europe, in defense of sustainability and against deforestation.

The olive tree is the ordinary symbol of peace. Since ancient times, it was also that of victory and chastity. In the UN pavilion, the wreath of olive branches around the world symbolizes universal peace.

I also show this other photograph of what until now was the oldest tree in El Retiro, the ahuehuete or bald cypress.
