Watch the robins eat out of your hand

I share in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia this video made in the Aiete park in San Sebastián. For more than three years, I have had my excited encounter with "my" txantxangorris (robins).

Every day, early in the morning and early in the afternoon, as I pass through Aiete Park in San Sebastián on my way to work, the txantxangorri comes to eat in my hand, responding to my call with a soft whistle.

As a general rule, he is usually already waiting for me. It's a great sensation when you place your delicate little paws on my hand.

During the breeding season, it is the pair that rush back and forth to perch on my hand to "load" their sharp beak with food for their chicks.

Also on weekends there is no shortage of my exciting visit to meet him. Like the ONCE announcement, it is "the excitement of every day." This is what happens to me when I receive them in my hand every day.

It is not strange that this bird returns to the same place and that they appear so friendly. It is very sociable, daring and curious, with a very melodic and appreciated song, similar to that of the nightingale.

It stands out for the color of its plumage. That of the male and the female is similar: the chest and face are orange, bordered by a bluish gray on the sides of the neck and chest. The upper parts are brown and the belly whitish, while the legs and feet are brown. The beak and eyes are black.
