Historic agreement between Barça and Vueling. This Thursday the 'Blaugranes al Vent', the first plane dedicated exclusively to them, was discovered. It is also the first time that a women's football team in Europe has a regular airliner with its image projected. The Barcelona team continues to break down barriers.
On the outside, an image appears of a selection of eleven players from the Barça squad. On one side there are Aitana Bonmatí, Patri Guijarro, Ingrid Engen, Hansen and Fridolina Rölfo and on the other Keira Walsh, Salma Paralluelo, María León, Alexia Putellas, Lucy Bronze and Ona Batlle. The interior of the plane has also been customized with some headers Barça that also include this shout of encouragement, along with some vinyl that highlights the alliance.
This plane will be the one that will accompany the team in its Champions League matches (they will be charter flights). The first trip will be the trip to London for the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea. “We really want to play Saturday's game. We have an important challenge that we do not encounter often. The agreement to transport the women's team is in force in Europe, Israel and North Africa (Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria), where Vueling operates. And it also includes commercial activations within the framework of matches at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, collaborations in the creation of digital content and dissemination through the platforms of both entities, among other assets.
The alliance between the airline and the Barça club dates back to last season, 2022-2023. Vueling already contacted Barça just before the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League, to offer them a collaboration aimed at being able to move the team into the final stretch of the European competition. This first approach was based on a series of common values such as the origin of both entities in Barcelona, the impulse and promotion of women in all spheres at a social, political and economic level and the will to do things in a different. The project could not go ahead due to deadlines, but it was resumed this year.
The will of both entities to continue promoting women's sport and everything it represents has allowed us to go one step further and has led to a long-term agreement that includes the end of this season and also the 2024-25 and 2025 courses. -26. Vueling will take the first women's team on most of its trips in national and international competitions, since the company operates in most of the destinations to which they will have to travel. In those cases where there is no direct flight, the team will be transferred to the closest Vueling destination.
