Vox places the ultra-Catholic Llanos Massó as president of Les Corts Valencianes

The Vox deputy for Castellón, Llanos Massó, will be the new president of Les Corts thanks to the agreement between the extreme right and the PP. This has been confirmed by the leader of the formation, Santiago Abascal, who has come to Valencia this morning to bless the pact between his party and Carlos Mazón's PP.

For the second authority of the Valencian Community, Vox has chosen an anti-abortion deputy with deep religious beliefs. Before joining Vox, Llanos Massó was on the Hazte Oír platform, a conservative and ultra-Catholic lobby, of which she was her delegate in Castellón.

Llanos Massó Linares is 57 years old. He has studied Physical Sciences at the University of Valencia, studies Philosophy and Theology and is a hearing aid technician. In April 2019, she headed the Vox regional list for Castellón, where she was elected deputy. She repeated as head of the list this 2023- she During these four years she has been deputy spokesperson for Vox in the Valencian Courts and a member of Vox in the Education and Finance Commission.

According to the Les Corts website, Llanos Massó is a "housewife and mother", graduated in hearing aids, religious sciences and has finished her studies in Physical Sciences. Politically, she is the province president of Vox in Castellón and one of the most important people in the party.

Her appointment, although she was the favorite for the position, has been carried out in secret until the end, when, shortly after the investiture session began, Abascal confirmed her name.

The appointment of Massó is the first step for the Constitution of Les Corts and the first episode of the pact between PP and Vox to govern the Generalitat. In exchange for ceding the Presidency of Les Corts and having three members in the future Valencian government (among them the Vice-Presidency that will be held by former bullfighter Vicente Barreda), the popular Carlos Mazón will be sworn in as president in mid-July.

Llanos Massó has defended Vox's postulates in the Valencian Chamber for four years. However, one of the most commented episodes was in the last control session with the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, last February. The deputy and future president of Les Corts showed a photograph of a book, which according to her, is taught to schoolchildren, in which images of adult penises of different sizes could be seen. "Do you think these illustrations benefit children?" the deputy asked the president while demanding that he "leave the children alone."

The response, which drew applause from the left-wing bench, came from the Minister of Education, Raquel Tamarit, who pointed out that although the members of Vox believe that there is only "one great and free one", the reality is that "fortunately there are many ways and a lot of diversity".
