Valencia registers the record of suffering twelve torrid nights in a row

The city of Valencia has registered this July the record of twelve consecutive torrid nights, with a minimum temperature greater than or equal to 25 degrees, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

It thus surpasses the previous records of nine consecutive hot nights in the city, which were recorded between July 22 and 30, 2003 and between July 25 and August 2, 2022.

In a grouping by decades, in the period from 2000 to 2010, a total of 21 torrid nights were counted; between 2010 and 2020, 40 were registered, and in the three years that we have been in the 2020s there are already 34.

Only one torrid night was recorded in the 1940s and 1950s; in those of 1960 and 1970 none; in 1980 four and in 1990 it already rose to twelve.

Tonight, the town of Xàbia has marked the highest minimum in the Valencian Community with 27 degrees, followed by Orihuela (Alicante) with 26.4 degrees, Miramar (Valencia) with 26.1 degrees, Valencia airport 25.8 degrees, Rojales (Alicante) 25.5 degrees, the Alicante capital and Pego (Alicante) with 25.2 degrees and Alicante-Elche airport with 25 degrees.
