Twelve works will change the image of Madrid in 2024 with the renovation of streets, squares and green areas in different parts of the city, which will also have around twenty new municipal facilities, such as cultural centers, swimming pools or a children's school.

Of the twelve actions in the public space promoted by the Works and Equipment Area of ​​the City Council of the capital, four will end this year, such as the reform of the Plaza de Olavide and its surroundings, while the remaining eight will begin in 2024, among them , the coverage of the M-30 as it passes through Ventas, according to sources from the Government Area directed by Paloma García Romero.

In addition, this year seven municipal facilities will open their doors, one of them the multifunctional building on Fúcar Street, and the construction of another fifteen facilities will begin, among which the complex that will house the old Legazpi Fruit and Vegetable Market stands out.

The renovations of public spaces that will be completed this year:

- Plaza de Olavide and its surroundings, in the Chamberí district. The reform is aimed at pedestrianizing the area and reorganizing the uses of the space, as well as improving universal accessibility, with a budget of 5.5 million euros co-financed by Next Generation European funds.

- Underpass under the railroad tracks on the Pozo del Tío Raimundo road, which connects the districts of Puente de Vallecas and Villa de Vallecas. The objective is to condition the existing underpass to facilitate the passage of pedestrians and vehicles with a municipal investment of 2.4 million euros.

- Improvement of accessibility on López de Hoyos street, between Marcenado and Alfonso XIII, in the Chamartín district. The purpose is to improve the quality of urban space, thinking about pedestrian comfort and safety, with a budget of 1.3 million euros.

- Improvement of accessibility on Irún and Juan Álvarez de Mendizábal streets, located around the Plaza de España, in the Moncloa-Aravaca district. The work will involve the installation of an elevator to avoid a slope and the creation of bicycle lanes, with a financial allocation of 2 million euros.

The works that will begin in 2024:

- Coverage of the M-30 as it passes through Sales. It is an electoral commitment of the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida. The project would affect a section of 300 meters and would generate an additional 20,000 square meters in surface area. This coverage, which would later be extended to other districts such as Retiro, would make it possible to "suture" the "gap" that the "sixteen" lanes of the ring road open between the neighborhoods of Ventas (Ciudad Lineal) and Fuente del Berro (Salamanca).

- Splitting of the Eduardo Barreiros bridge over the M-40, in the Usera district.

- Paseo de Santa María de la Cabeza, in the Carabanchel district.

- Rehabilitation of the Sabatini Gardens, in the Centro district.

- Plaza de Jacinto Benavente, in the Centro district.

- Plaza de Tirso de Molina, in the Centro district.

- Salvador Dalí Square, in the Salamanca district.

- Second phase of the Manolito Gafotas park, in the Carabanchel district.

Some of the municipal facilities that will be inaugurated this year:

- Multifunctional building on Fúcar Street (Centro), which will have a children's school, day center, indoor pool and sports pavilion.

- Cultural center on Pastora Imperio street (Chamartín).

- Children's school on Paseo de la Direction (Tetuán).

- Cuatro Caminos Municipal Sports Center (Tetuán).

- Cultural center with library in Butarque (Villaverde).

- Summer pool on Mistral Street (Barajas).

- Summer swimming pool on Paseo de la Gestión (Tetuán).

The equipment that will start in the coming months:

The Madrid City Council will begin the construction of at least fifteen municipal facilities in 2024, among which the four that will house the complex of the old Legazpi Fruit and Vegetable Market stand out (three facilities for residents and municipal offices for 2,500 officials) or the three that will be located in the multifunctional building on Francisco Remiro Street, in Salamanca (children's school, senior center and day center).

Work is also scheduled to begin on a senior center and a center for vulnerable families in the palace of the Duchess of Sueca, a cultural center at Prado 30, a Samur-Civil Protection base and a Madrid Health center in Moratalaz, a Family House in Ensanche de Vallecas, a senior center in Latina, a day center on Téllez Street (Retiro) or a sports pavilion in Las Rosas (Ciudad Lineal).

In total, the accounts of the Works and Equipment Area for 2024 include provisions for forty new municipal facilities, including projects already in execution, projects to begin and drafting of projects, with a global investment of more than 88 million euros.
