Cows, sheep and a lunch from Avi Ciscu de Prats. A year ago Pere Aragonès and Jordi Sánchez closed a proximity agreement between two parties at the antipodes of independence at the Soler de n'Hug estate. It was the possible pact, that of survival. Lonely, they pledged loyalty and mutual trust. What remains of that commitment? Aragonès is president and Sànchez leaves the Junts command bridge. The post-convergence boiling is underway and the future of the Government continues to depend on it.
In the government sum of ERC and Junts, the order of the factors has altered the product. Yes. Although one of the factors is today a more unstable artifact than a year ago. Aragonès drowns out the internal noise, the Government lives oblivious to the manifest incompatibilities of the parties, the ministers receive each shock between sarcasm and stupefaction... The last one due to the sentence that imposes 25% of Castilian in the classrooms. On Tuesday there was a morning coordination meeting in Palau (ten people) with Aragonès and Laura Borràs at the helm. Later, the ministers were separated by parties, they were updated on the negotiations and, after the process, they were merged to give an image of normality. The Consell Executiu started with laughter.
Aragonès managed to be president on the third try but Sànchez could not guarantee the trust he had committed; the Borràs-Jordi Turull tandem will not do it either. The president of the Parliament is a lover of the órdagos, although she later does not go from words to deeds. With her candidacy to lead Junts, she announced a consultation with the militancy on the government pact (Turull collaborated in its negotiation taking advantage of a prison permit). The threat of rupture has been diluted, what persists is her intention to put ERC in trouble at each curve.
Among the post-convergent there are several races underway that can alter the Government: There are no undisputed or unifying leaderships, Carles Puigdemont did not intervene in decision-making but distributed blessings, and the list of secondary actors fuels personal confrontations. In Junts, today the who prevails over the what and only Josep Rius acts as a hinge. Once the distribution of power has been resolved, the pulse is reproduced with the candidacy of Barcelona after the departure of Elsa Artadi. And veterans see the ghost of CiU. CDC and UDC divided up the presidency and the general secretary, the electoral posters of Barcelona and Madrid... all for the sake of unity and avoiding measuring their value separately at the polls. Until a message arrived with a "C'est fini".
With no momentum in sight, the ERC is counting in case a crisis breaks out in the post-convergence zone. Jaume Giró, Violant Cervera and Gemma Geis have shielded themselves in the executive from different families, while the vice president participates with voice but without vote. The discreet role of Jordi Puigneró facilitates speculation about a candidacy for mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès. A relief that would be justified by the attempt to recover the traditional converging feud now in the hands of ERC with the PSC and the CUP. The primaries in the town have been delayed – there are at least three candidates – but Puigneró's plans do not include a return to municipal politics. In ERC, only the Minister of Education, Josep González-Cambray, suffers. If ERC did not drop Chakir el Homrani in the midst of a pandemic, there will be no movements now either.
Aragonès has asked his councilors to send him a couple of hits from each department for his one-year Govern balance appearance. He promised transformative policies, a rain of national pacts and laws, a shock to the administration... And dialogue with the Government of Pedro Sánchez to solve the political conflict... The Scottish path of the president is today a shower of silence broken by espionage to the independence movement authorized by a judge and the "revolution" is conditioned by the economic crisis derived from the war in Ukraine.
In parallel, the reading of Junts takes place, in which ministers, executive, sectoral members of the party, negotiators will participate... The result is predictable. Of the five blocks of the legislature pact, there are two in which the agreement is stuck: the roadmap and coordination.
