Thursday threatens to be the hottest day in memory in the Valencian Community

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts that Thursday, in which the west wind will blow inland and pre-coastal, will end up being the warmest day in the Valencian Community since at least 1950, surpassing August 15, 2021 and to July 7, 1994.

The maximum on Thursday could reach 47 degrees in Xàtiva (Valencia), 43 in Montanejos (Castellón), 42 in Segorbe (Castellón), 41 in Requena (Valencia) and Alcoi (Alicante) or 36 degrees in Morella (Castellón), according to Aemet's prediction, which indicates that in the capitals they will reach 36 degrees in Valencia, 35 in Alicante and 34 in Castelló.

After the drop in temperatures last week, yesterday Monday they began to rise and will continue to do so until Thursday "which will be the hottest day of summer" in the Valencian Community.

A drop in temperatures is expected on Friday, although they will continue to be very warm and above the normal values for mid-August.

Aemet points out that the entry of the breeze and the extension of the west wind on Thursday "are important sources of uncertainty today" since the advance of the breeze just a few kilometers further inland or the time of entry may vary temperatures significantly.

Thus, the time of entry of the breeze to the low regions of the pre-coastal of Valencia will delimit the area where extreme temperatures will be reached and the forecast is that the breeze will arrive very late or not reach towns on the Coast and the interior area of the Ribera Alta .

As indicated, on hot days in the Costera and the Ribera Alta, in the afternoon the southeast breeze turns south in La Safor and the towns of the Marina Alta to the south of the Montgó massif, such as Pego. In these situations, the air reaches these areas superheated to the lee of the Montgó.

Although today Tuesday the temperatures are close to the normal values for the dates, although higher in the interior, starting tomorrow Wednesday they will be "very high" and on Thursday "the heat is generalized to almost the entire territory."

On Thursday the wind will blow from the west in the interior and pre-coastal, especially in the province of Valencia, with weak breezes on the Valencia coast that will penetrate a few tens of kilometers inland and more general breezes in Alicante and Castellón.

For Thursday, Aemet expects clear cloudless skies to predominate in the Valencian Community, with probable haze in the morning, and with daytime cloudiness in the interior from noon and a low probability of storms.

Temperatures will experience a rise, notably the maximum in Alicante and Valencia, and while in Castellón the wind will be light and variable with sea breezes; in Valencia it will be from the west in the interior and from the east on the coast; and in Alicante, from the south on the coast and variable weak in the interior.
