Threads is diluted: half of the users who registered a month ago have already left

Meta, Mark Zuckerberg's company that recently launched Instagram Threads, is working to win back the trust of users who left the platform after record-breaking initial success. The alternative devised by Zuckerberg to compete with Twitter in the microblogging segment became the fastest growing platform in history in early July, surpassing 100 million users in just over a week.

But as reported by Reuters, more than half of the people who signed up for Threads taking advantage of the ups and downs of Twitter (now X) are no longer active users of the new social network. The company responsible for Facebook and Instagram is already looking for solutions to retain those who still remain on the platform, indicate the same sources.

In an internal meeting, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, acknowledged that user retention on Threads has been higher than expected, although not perfect. Of the initial 100 million users, the goal was for at least half to continue using the app. However, Zuckerberg was optimistic, stating that they are still working towards that goal.

The Meta CEO mentioned that the initial drop in Threads is normal for a new social network and that they are now focused on designing features that help retain more users. Some of these features, such as the desktop version and a new search option, have already been announced and will be available in the coming weeks. In addition, Meta is planning other improvements to keep users active and bring back those who left.

One of Meta's proposed improvements as a "retaining hook" is to make sure that people using the Instagram app can see important threads from Threads, according to one of the company's executives.

Despite the initial success of Instagram Threads, Meta remains focused on her vision of the metaverse. Zuckerberg has confirmed that the development of the virtual world is not far ahead of schedule, but that they continue to work on it. The company hopes to have a metaverse ready by the 2030s, and believes that this technology will see mass adoption in the future.

Meanwhile, Meta is experiencing an increase in revenue. During the second quarter, the company reported an 11% increase, reaching $32 billion, beating analyst estimates.
