This has been the reunion of 'Suits' at the Golden Globes (without Meghan Markle)

The public this summer was waiting for Suits. It doesn't matter if it was during the lunch break at work, from the drowsiness of the armchair during the holidays or between dips and dips: the lawyer series broadcast between 2013 and 2019 was a hit in ratings when Netflix added the episodes to its catalog. in June. And, after these months of watching one episode after another, the public wanted to see them: the Golden Globes remedied this need by inviting the cast to present an award.

Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht came out to present the award for best television drama series, which was won by Jesse Armstrong's Succession. Before even reading the nominees, however, they joked about the late phenomenon of Suits: at the time it was one of the most watched cable series on television, yes, but between June and October it directly became a audience phenomenon that beat any other streaming content.

“There's nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night and hearing that your category has finally arrived,” explained Macht, who played Harvey Specter, a handsome and ruthless Chicago lawyer in the series. "Yes it's true. It's hard to imagine having to wait so long to see your series get this kind of recognition,” responded Adams, Michael Ross in fiction, referring to the five years that had to pass between the end of Suits and this resurgence of popularity.

The reunion, however, did not stop there. Then Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres, who played Donna Paulsen and Jessica Pearson, came on stage to remind them that they had to present the award. Both, curiously, are in a very good professional moment and in the forefront of television: Rafferty as the matriarch of My Life with the Walter Boys, Netflix's surprise teen hit in 2023, and Torres as the main actress of 9- 1-1: Lone Star next to Rob Lowe.

The one who seems to have rejected the possibility of going on stage was Meghan Markle, the other key figure of Suits during the most successful seasons, who still does not want to be associated with her former profession, that of an actress. Let us remember that, after marrying Prince Harry (a ceremony in which she invited her co-stars) and obtaining the title of Duchess of Sussex, she returned to settle in Hollywood as a producer of podcasts and television shows, although the Agreements signed with Spotify or Netflix have not produced the expected results for the platforms.

And, regarding the reunion of the quartet formed by Macht, Adams, Rafferty and Torres, the anecdote, for the moment, has not served to announce any kind of sequel to Suits. What is underway is the creation of a new lawyer series written by Aaron Korsch, the original director, which will be set in the same fictional universe. Of course, it will not show the negotiations and trials of the law firms that we met in Chicago but will take place in Los Angeles with a new cast.
