They will remove a racist monkey from a pastry shop in Sant Cugat del Vallès

The Sabat pastry shop in Sant Cugat del Vallès has removed a monkey from the window labeled as racist, according to the media 'Tot Sant Cugat'. The feminist collective of the municipality of Hora Bruixa has spread the image through social networks, accompanied by a text in which they lamented the perpetuation of the topic that associates chocolate with black people.

"The figure shows a naked woman, only covered with an apron, with totally disproportionate red lips that maintain the historical caricature of black people and that only contributes to their stigmatization," according to the collective.

The person in charge of the pastry shop has regretted that someone may have been offended, for which he has withdrawn the monkey, according to what he affirms to the same medium.

Hora Bruixa also denounces that the woman who represented the moma held a tray in each hand, "an image that directly evokes slavery." For this reason they reject the representation of black people who evoke the monkey and asked for its withdrawal, just as the pastry shop has finally done.
