The Municipal Police of Madrid has seized 548 cartridges of unknown origin from a driver who was carrying them in his vehicle without any type of documentation, a spokesperson for the Local Corps has informed Europa Press.
The intervention took place on January 16 on Paseo de la Castellana, when the agents who monitor vehicle license plates verified that a car was driven by a driver whose driving license had been revoked a year ago by final ruling for high alcohol levels.
For this reason, they stopped him on General Perón Street and Plaza de Lima. The agents noticed that the driver was very nervous, giving confusing answers, so they proceeded to search the vehicle, detecting a large number of shotgun cartridges in the trunk, some of them with high penetration caliber.
The driver stated that they came from cleaning an apartment that they were working on on Orense Street that they were renovating. The police approached it, but there they could not prove the origin of said cartridges, although they verified that the owners of the property were hunters.
Finally, the agents seized the cartridges based on Royal Decree 9/89 of 2015, which indicates the prohibition of transporting cartridges without the relevant documentation, the same sources have indicated.
