An Asturias Firefighters helicopter has located a body on a cliff in the Cabo Vidio area. This was one of the search areas for the body of the mayor of Soto del Barco, Jaime Pérez Lorente, who disappeared on Tuesday.
This morning the operation to search for the mayor was activated with Citizen Security and Seprona patrols, as well as the GEAS. Civil Guard sources have pointed out that the work to recover the body will be difficult due to the steepness of the area, which is difficult to access.
The mayor's car was found near Cape Vidio, 20 kilometers away from his place of residence. Jaime Pérez was sworn in as mayor of the town on June 17 and his disappearance has left the nearly 5,000 inhabitants that make it up dismayed.
The Soto del Barco City Council issued a statement on Wednesday after the disappearance of the mayor: "Our government team is working hard to ensure that administrative and management tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively. It is important to note that, although the absence of the mayor is a hard blow for all of us, we must not allow this to paralyze us. We are a strong and united municipality, and together we will overcome this situation."
