Agents of the National Police have arrested two people, a man and a woman, in the district of Torrellano, in Elx, for the alleged commission of the crimes of document falsification and fraud, related to a network of falsification of MOT of German vehicles , for which they were supposedly responsible.

The police investigation began with the arrest, last May, of two German citizens who were driving vehicles that had falsified German ITV (Technical Vehicle Inspection), as indicated by the National Police in a statement.

Given these events, the National Police agents assigned to the Illicit Vehicle Traffic Group (UDYCO) of the Alicante Provincial Police Station, specialized in the investigation of crimes involving illicit vehicle trafficking, began to carry out a series of checks to locate the place where these MOTs were being falsified.

After various checks, the agents linked the aforementioned vehicles with a parking lot located in the district of Torrellano (Elx). They carried out an inspection at their facilities, in which they located up to ten German vehicles whose MOTs were falsified. This is an area close to the airport, where there are many long-term parking lots used by foreign residents.

The agents contacted the owners of said vehicles, and most of them stated that the parking owners had notified them, after leaving their vehicle parked there, that the ITV of their vehicle had expired or was about to expire and they offered them the power to renew it. with them. For the renewal, the vehicle owners paid between 300 and 370 euros, depending on the case.

On the other hand, the officers in charge of this investigation contacted German police officers, who verified that the vehicles investigated had not passed the MOT in Germany and had expired, in some cases several years.

In addition to this, the investigators obtained an email that contained a conversation between the car park and one of its clients in which they offered to pass the MOT.

The agents located the two owners of the parking lot, a man and a woman, 49 and 40 years old respectively, for the alleged commission of the crimes of document falsification and fraud. All the procedures and actions carried out by the agents during the investigation were brought to the attention of the Investigating Court on duty in Elche.
