They dismantle an illegal car workshop that exploited undocumented mechanics in Santa Pola

The Civil Guard has dismantled a clandestine workshop in Guardamar del Segura. Two individuals have been investigated for an alleged crime against workers' rights, by employing three compatriots in an irregular situation, subjecting them to long working hours and without having the corresponding work permit.

At the end of November last year, the Civil Guard received information about the possible existence of a clandestine vehicle workshop in Guardamar del Segura, where it was suspected that irregular workers were used. In response to these events, the Investigation Area of the Guardamar del Segura Main Post began operation Mashina23.

On November 29, after locating the workshop, the agents carried out an inspection in a warehouse located in Guardamar del Segura, which was rented to a 42-year-old man of Belarusian origin. This individual, owner of a vehicle buying and selling company in the Vega Baja del Segura region, had a history of falsifying documents. During the performance, a partner of the tenant, another 48-year-old Belarusian man, was also present.

Inside the workshop, the agents discovered vehicles in various stages of repair and seized 161 license plates from Spain and several European countries, which are being investigated. In addition, the presence of three Belarusian workers in an irregular situation was identified, who apparently worked in exchange for food and clothing and resided inside the workshop.

After a thorough analysis of all the evidence obtained, on December 5, the employers were investigated for an alleged crime against workers' rights. The Court of Instruction No. 4 of Torrevieja is the body that has taken charge of the judicial proceedings.

In addition, an administrative infraction file has been opened against those investigated for the possession and use of fluorinated gases to recharge vehicle air conditioning, reporting to the Department of the Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Customs and Excise Department in Alicante.

During the inspection, the researchers had the support of the Nature Protection Patrol (PAPRONA) of Guardamar, the Territorial Fiscal Patrol (PAFITE) of Torrevieja and the Local Police of Guardamar del Segura.
