The Seprona of the Civil Guard has denounced fourteen fishermen during a day of control of the activity in the Riba-roja d'Ebre reservoir on the weekend of June 10, 2023.
According to the police statement, 24 infractions related to the lack of preserve permits and inland fishing licenses were detected. Also due to the use of lead in fishing gear, which has been prohibited in inland waters in Catalonia since the previous season.
In addition, the agents also denounced the use of two fishing rods or trammel nets, prohibited for this type of fishing, to keep invasive exotic species alive after capture and use them as a hook.
Seprona agents seized two nets and an inflatable boat. The complaints have been transmitted to the territorial services of the Climate Action Department, while they have remained at the disposal of the same administration.
