Thebes responds to Laporta: "You have to find out before splitting"

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, recalled that Barcelona is listed alongside the big English clubs according to the distribution of television rights, and responded to the president of the Barça team, Joan Laporta, that "you have to find out before you split."

"Dear Joan Laporta, I'll give you the data on the TV distribution of FC Barcelona, compared to Premier League clubs, you are perfectly competitive, the league earns less, and you are like the greats of the Premier League. You have to find out before 'cracking'", Tebas said on his Twitter account.

The president of LaLiga accompanied his message with a table that reflects the data on growth in this aspect of both competitions and shared data from the 2016-2017 and 2021-2022 seasons.

In 2016-2017 the "Premier" distributed 2,398.5 million pounds among its clubs and in 2021-2022 2,536.9 million, with a growth of 138.4 (5.77%). For its part, LaLiga distributed 1,390.4 million in the 2016-2017 season and 1,601.1 in the 2021-2022 season, which represents a growth of 210.70 (15.15%).

The club table is led by Manchester City (176 million), followed by Liverpool (174.6), Tottenham (167.9), Arsenal (167.6), Chelsea (167.4), Manchester United (164.2), Real Madrid (160.8) and Barcelona (160.1).

In an interview with BarçaTV, the Barça president commented yesterday that the way European football should be reformed. He explained that the Premier will go from 5,000 to 7,000 million euros in income from television rights, while LaLiga will go from 2,000 to 2,700 or less.

"UEFA should be at our same table, because we want to make the European Super League through a constructive dialogue. We are open to talk with everyone and firmly committed to reforming the football model. I estimate that the Super League will be a reality in a couple of years," he said.
