The Valencian Community expects up to 43 degrees today in the interior of Valencia and Alicante

The minimum temperatures have touched 25 degrees this morning in various parts of the Valencian Community in a heat wave that is being less intense than in other areas of Spain, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

The minimums have reached 24.9 degrees at the Alicante-Elche airport, 24.8 in Valencia, 24.7 in Miramar, 24.5 in Alicante and Castelló, 24.4 in Orihuela and the Valencia airport, 23 9 in Xàbia, 23.8 in Pego, 23.7 in Rojales and 23.6 in Elche and Torreblanca.

So far, the heat wave "has not intensely affected" the Valencian Community, where these days "there have only been yellow notices in inland regions", according to Aemet. It is precisely for the afternoon of this Tuesday when the orange alert has been activated for temperatures of up to 43 degrees in the interior of Valencia and Alicante.

In fact, the highest maximum temperatures so far were recorded this Monday in the interior of Alicante, with 37 degrees in Pinoso and Villena.

Consequently, the records of the Valencian Community "are far from others recorded in the center and south of the Peninsula", where temperatures have exceeded 40 degrees and, in Valencian territory, the most notable effect of the heat wave has been the high minimums.

Likewise, according to Aemet, since Sunday whitish skies have been seen denoting the presence of suspended dust that accompanies the mass of warm Saharan air, but this warm air does not circulate along the ground, but above 800-1000 meters.

In addition, below the warm air mass there is a cooler and more humid air mass, of Mediterranean origin, which is brought inland by the sea breeze. That Mediterranean air, precisely, has kept the highs contained, although with a feeling of embarrassment due to humidity and very high lows.

But for this Tuesday a change in weather is expected that will make the day the warmest day of the heat wave in the Valencian Community, with very weak and late breezes, with less penetration inland.

Thus, while on Monday, the maritime air ventilated and cooled the entire territory, this Tuesday it did not reach the inland regions, where the land wind will blow from the west and southwest.

Even so, the breeze is going to blow, although it will be weaker and later, which will cause temperatures to soar above 40 degrees in the interior regions, for which reason Aemet has activated the orange notice in the interior of Valencia and Alicante.

Although the maximums are going to be very high inside these two provinces, from Aemet they have considered it "unlikely" that the temperature record reached on August 14, 2021 in towns such as Utiel, which reached 43.1, will be exceeded. degrees, although they have not ruled out new records in the interior of Castellón, depending on how the northwest wind evolves.
