Suffocating heat in the Valencian Community. The State Meteorological Agency has activated the yellow alert for high temperatures throughout the territory, mainly between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The only exception is on the Castellón coast and in the interior south of Valencia; but the rest will be affected by highs between 36 and 38 degrees that, occasionally, could exceed 39 degrees.
In addition, the night looks especially complicated, as it will be tropical throughout the Community except in three towns: Alginet, Alborache and Barracas, which will maintain thermometers below 20 degrees. The worst, on the contrary, will be lived in the interior of Alicante, where various towns of El Comtat and La Marina Baixa will spend an equatorial night, with temperatures above 25 degrees.
The map of the emergency alert system of the Ministry of Health is practically colored red in the western interior of the Community, from Ademuz towards the south. The province of Alicante is one of the most affected, because there is red level in El Baix Segura - towns like Bigastro, Callosa de Segura, Catra, or Redován-; The Baix Vinalopó; The County; The Middle Vinalopó; Alt Vinalopó; The Marina Alta and the Marina Baixa.
Risk is also high in El Rincón de Ademuz; The Valley of Cofrentes; in Zorita del Maestrazgo, within the county of Els Ports; in Alcoià; the Font de la Figuera, in La Costera; in La Plana de Utiel-Requena; in La Vall d'Albaida and La Serranía, specifically in Benagéber.
Given the risk of heat, the different administrations call on the public to take extreme precautions. For example, from Health it is recommended to avoid solo between 12 and 17 hours or drink plenty of fluids despite not being thirsty. Through the usual communication channels, an attempt is being made to send a message of caution to citizens, as the Valencia City Council has already done, for example, where even three consecutive tropical nights are expected.
In this case, the consistory foresees specific and individualized actions, aimed at the most vulnerable groups, such as a specific protocol for the Teleassistance Service, information and specialized follow-up in weather situations, which affects, for example, the usual follow-up calls that they are made to the users; or the work of the Service for Attention to Social Emergencies and Collaboration in Emergencies (SAUS) in collaboration with the Association of Civil Protection Volunteers, in relation to the increase in temperatures and exposure to solar radiation.
