The Treasury will enter 16,400 million for rent, 5.6% more

Just hours after opening the filing period for the 2022 income statement, at 10 this morning, 470,000 returns have already been filed. At peak times, up to 1,500 statements per minute have entered. They are the taxpayers in the greatest hurry and, it is assumed, are among those who have the right to a refund. It is an amount that will foreseeably increase throughout the day.

In the income campaign that starts today, the Treasury will increase its income by 5.6%, to a total of 16,448 million euros; while returns will decrease. They will fall by 2.4% compared to the previous year, remaining at 9,946 million euros. The total net result for the Tax Agency, an income of 6,502 million euros.

In this way, there will be 13.6 million declarations with the right of return to wait for the Treasury, which would mean 60% of the total.

If the forecast is an increase in income from the income statement, on the other hand, income from assets will decrease, due to the tax discounts that several autonomous communities have adopted. It is a 3.1% reduction in asset declarations compared to 2021, which will remain at 223,000 and also a 3.7% decrease in income, which will add up to 1,287 million euros. "Without these bonuses from the communities, there would have been an increase both in the number of declarations of assets and in their amount," said the general director of the Tax Agency, Soledad Fernández.

On the other hand, the Tax Agency has also multiplied the notices to taxpayers to individually remind them of the obligation to declare. They are incorporated into the system and there are 328,000 notices in relation to cryptocurrencies, 807,000 for income from other countries and 661,000 in reference to real estate rentals.

In order to provide information to the taxpayer, the Treasury has created a new Virtual Income Assistant in this campaign, with easily accessible language on real estate issues and to answer the most common questions. It is a first piece of information that, if it is not enough, you can go to the Income Reporter, who provides the information structured by subject. The difference is that while the assistant answers simple questions in what the Treasury calls “natural language”, the Informer offers a series of structured blocks, more complete and complex information. If neither of the two services does not resolve the doubts, there remains the possibility of trying to achieve it through a chat service.

There are also changes to the "Renta Web" button, which has been redesigned on two levels to simplify and improve navigation. A first level with the basic and most common options; and a second, with the rest of the possibilities. There is also a new version of the app, which includes shortcuts to the Stock Portfolio and virtual assistance tools, . Through the app you can submit the declaration including an IBAN, when in previous years it could only be done if a previous IBAN already existed.

As a reminder of the main elements of the 2022 income statement, the deadlines are until June 30, and taxpayers with incomes of less than 22,000 euros per year are not required to declare. In the event that there is more than one payer, the limit is reduced to 14,000 euros if the second and subsequent payers exceed 1,500 euros.

Another novelty is the extension of the deduction for maternity. The assumptions in which it can be obtained are extended and the effects apply both to 2022, as well as to the years 2020 and 2021. Employees who are unemployed due to having their work contract suspended, due to being in the period of inactivity of the discontinuous fixed contracts, or for being in cessation of activity due to suspension of the economic activity carried out.

The Tax Agency calculates that 80,000 people will be able to benefit from this maternity deduction for the years 2020 and 2021, without there yet being a reliable forecast for the year 2022.
