UEFA, the European leagues, clubs, players and fans personally conveyed to Super League representatives on Tuesday that opposition to the idea "remains overwhelming today, as it has been since April 2021."

As confirmed by UEFA, the organization responded to the request to hold a meeting at its headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland) with A22 Sports, a private commercial company, "offering them the opportunity to address all the truly representative authorities of European football."

After the meeting, UEFA said that its highest officials, with President Aleksander Čeferin, and the high-ranking representatives of the national leagues, clubs, players and fans, "underlined together that the opposition to the self-proclaimed Super League remains overwhelming today. , as it has been since April 2021."

"In keeping with the unity of European football, UEFA and participating football stakeholders once again unanimously rejected the logic behind projects such as the ESL (European Super League) during today's debate," to which The president of LaLiga and representative of the European leagues in the UEFA executive, Javier Tebas, and the president of the world players' union FIFPRO, David Aganzo, also from Spain, attended, among others.

According to UEFA, the participants listened "with surprise" to the statements of the general director of A22 Sports -Bernd Reichart- that this company "does not represent any club in any capacity, including the three clubs that continue to openly support the project (Real Madrid , Barcelona and Juventus).

In its statement, UEFA and "football stakeholders" say they remain "committed to the fundamentals of European football, which are based on openness, solidarity and meritocracy, and serve the broader goals of sporting principles and social interest, rather than privileges and self-rights".

He also recalled that this position "has received the unanimous support of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and broad support from national governments, public institutions and stakeholders across the continent.

The meeting was attended by Mathieu Moreuil for the Premier League, Donata Hopfen for the German League (DFL), Luigi De Siervo as president of the Italian League, Vincent Labrune from the French League; PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi as president of the European Club Association (ECA), as well as his partners Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich), Edwin Van der Sar (Ajax), Dariusz Mioduski (Legia Warsaw), Aki Riihilahti (Helsinki), Hans-Joachim Watzke (Borussia Dortmund), Miguel Ángel Gil (Atletico Madrid), Michael Verschueren (Anderlecht), Domingos Soares de Oliveira (Benfica), Dan Friedkin (Roma), Luca Percassi (Atalanta) and Charlie Marshall (ECA CEO).
