Pilar d'Almenara is located in the Sierra de Almenara, in the Urgell region. It is at the top of this mountain that we can find this Christian tower.
The photographs show us the pillar up close and also how the landscape opens up when we see it from the position of this peculiar tower.
The tower belongs to an old castle documented in 1139, which dominated the southern end of the plateau, with a great panoramic view of Urgell and all the surrounding castles.
The place name Almenara is of Arabic origin and means, precisely, watchtower. It is a work declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
