In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can get to know this curious hermitage, very dilapidated but beautiful, of Sant Roc, located on the outskirts of the village of Sant Martí de Maldà, in the municipality of Sant Martí de Riucorb, in the region of Urgell .
This hermitage can be reached by taking a walk from the town. It is located in a slightly elevated area, there is no loss. Although it is in a dilapidated state, you can distinguish its sumptuous architecture, which is not common in most rural hermitages.
The hermitage has been documented since 1607, when the first chapel was built. In 1691 it already appears dedicated to Sant Roc and Sant Sebastià. Later, in 1734, when Roc Torrent i Torrent was parish priest, construction of the current building began.
On a buttress of the hermitage, if we look closely, we can see the date of 1737, surely a reference to when it was finished. In the keystone of the entrance arch are the names of the promoters, Torrent and Blanch.
Attached to the chapel was the hermit's house, currently missing. In fact, towards the end of the 19th century, the hermitage went into decline and even in 1936, it suffered a fire that caused the roof to fall.
