The snow mills of Sant Guim

I have captured these photographs for La Vanguardia Readers' Photos from Sant Guim de Freixenet, in the Segarra region, from where we can contemplate the snow-capped Pyrenees beyond the large windmills.

In Sant Guim de Freixenet we find several panoramic viewpoints to enjoy the landscape, in the towns of Altadill, La Rabassa and Sant Domí.

The municipality, of almost 25 km2, has an elevated territory, whose main core is at 738 meters of altitude. It is considered a mountain town despite belonging to the Plana de Lleida. The Tossal del Magre reaches 781 meters.

We are located in the watershed between the Segre and Llobregat watersheds. Specifically, between the headwaters of the rivers Sió, Ondara and Anoia, in the Alta Segarra.

In this area, the windmills do not stop spinning, generating wind energy. But there are other characteristic elements of this landscape, such as plowed fields and silos full of grain to fatten cattle.
