The sewers go to heaven

In an order published in the bulletin of the Ministry of the Interior, dated February 3, 2014, the gold medal for Police Merit was awarded, on an honorary basis, in favor of the Marian devotion of the Royal, Most Excellent, Very Illustrious and Venerable Brotherhood of Worship and Procession of Our Father Jesus the Rich and Our Lady Mary Most Holy of Love.

On February 25 of that same year, 24,874 signatures demanded that the Ministry of the Interior of Jorge Fernández Díaz award the police merit medal to Mortadelo and Filemón. The reasons were that “they were also fictional characters who since 1958 have been contributing to extolling the benefits of the police.” The request was denied.

The penalty for taking faith and the police as a joke is that out of the mix you get an Operation Catalunya where the accused must prove their innocence based on infamies, lies and manipulations. Today RAC1 and La Vanguardia put in loud capital letters, showing with documents, the evil of the police leadership of the Ministry of the Interior with Xavier Trias or with part of the Pujol family. It is increasingly evident that that ministry was led by someone who was not in his right mind, where faith led over ethics. The pain caused was forgiven by praying one and a half kilos of Our Fathers and two hundred and fifty grams of Hail Marys. And on to the next infamous sinner.

In one of the climactic and most brilliant scenes of The Messiah, Montse (Carmen Machi), who somatizes being God's sent to Earth, tells her wayward daughter Irene (Macarena García): “If the police come here, they will We will open the door and be so calm... because they have never been able to handle us.” Irene's response is forceful: "Don't worry, I'll be able to." It seems that the time has come. The documentation is more powerful than hours of gossipy recordings by a commissioner. They are cornering themselves in the corners of the sewers, in the shabby sewer while Minister Fernández Díaz should appear at the next Primavera Sound next to Stella Maris to sing as in The Messiah: “Mountains of garbage. This sewer goes straight to heaven. Believe me, follow me, have faith. Accompany me".
