The Senate gives Feijóo seven days to declare if he has a bonus from the PP

The president of the Senate, Ander Gil, sent a letter on Tuesday to the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in which he is given a period of seven days, until July 4, to update his income statement after the PSOE demanded to know if he received any "extras" as president of his party.

According to the letter, the president of the Senate alludes to the Electoral Regime Law, the Regulations of the Chamber and an agreement of the Tables of Congress and the Senate to urge Feijóo to update his income statement and gives him until Tuesday July 4th.

This is how the president of the Senate has reacted after the Socialist Group in the Upper House registered a petition on Monday for Feijóo to declare whether he receives a bonus from the PP. This claim by the Socialists arises after the opposition leader assured a few days ago that he receives a bonus from his training.

For this reason, Ander Gil explains in his letter that, if an undeclared modification of the document that Feijóo presented when he became a senator occurs in the last thirty calendar days, he must update his declaration before this July 4.

In this way, the president of the Senate has responded to the letter presented by the Socialist Group in which part of the transcript of the interview that Feijóo gave to Cadena Ser in which he talks about this matter is included.

Specifically, when asked directly about his salary as a senator and as head of the party, Feijóo did not say the exact figure and pointed out that he declares in the Senate and that he receives a bonus from the Popular Party, like "all the people" who are in the Party Steering Committee.

Thus, and without citing a specific figure, the "popular" leader was in favor of making party financing public and laughingly assured that when he presents his payroll to the Senate, which is an obligation at the end of the legislature , you can make that amount public.

However, in this communication made by the president of the Senate, Feijóo is given a margin until July 4 to present an updated income statement, reminding him of the regulations that refer to this matter.

The PSOE has opened another way of attacking Feijóo due to the question of bonuses and yesterday. The Minister of Education and spokesperson for the PSOE, Pilar Alegría, pointed out this Tuesday that Feijóo has been at the head of the party for more than a year and continues "without clarifying" his "bonus".

For Alegría, it is not just a matter of non-compliance with a regulation, "but of transparency with the citizens he represents" and as a person who aspires to govern the country and who "comes from a party with the trajectory it has", in reference to the corruption. And he has reminded him that "there are no excuses" with transparency: "Those who represent the citizens have to be absolutely transparent" and "no longer as an obligation", but as an exercise of "responsibility".
