The return of the Pedraforca cows

* The author is part of the community of readers of La Vanguardia

The cows returning home after grazing, a bucolic image that we can contemplate at the foot of Pedraforca, as seen in this photograph in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

In Berguedà, grass-fed beef production stands out, in an extensive regime, with calves that are born and grow outdoors in the fields, meadows and forests of the region, where they feed exclusively on their mother's milk and pastures.

These meadows have as their reference point in Berguedà an emblematic mountain, Pedraforca. It has a very peculiar shape due to its two peaks separated by a large hill, which gives it its name.

The northern summit is composed of two peaks: the Pollegó Superior (2506 m) next to the Calderer (2505 m). The south is formed by Pollegó Inferior (2445 m).

The closest towns are Gósol and Saldes. In 1982, it was declared a natural site of national interest by the Parliament of Catalonia.
