The snow has returned to the Pyrenees. And the Puigmal looks spring white, as can be seen in these snapshots in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, whether seen from the mainland, from the perspective taken from a farmhouse in Vic, or from the top of a balloon of the Mercat del Ram contest.
El Puigmal, in Alta Cerdanya, is the second highest mountain in the province of Girona, with 2,914 meters, and is located on the border between Spain and France.
In this case, the images have been captured from Vic, capital of the Osona region, in the province of Barcelona, more than 60 kilometers away.
Located between the municipalities of Queralbs (Ripollès) and Err (Alta Cerdanya, Eastern Pyrenees), the Puigmal is the highest of the peaks that make up the so-called Gran Olla that surrounds the Vall de Núria.
It is a wide and rounded top. And its ascent is easy if the weather conditions are not very adverse. At its summit is a forged iron cross and a plaque with verses by Jacint Verdaguer.
We can also see images of the snow-capped Mount Puigmal with the balloon in front, in Vic. These days the international balloon festival of the Mercat del Ram is celebrated and the balloon could not miss going up and reaching the top of the mountain on the Núria side.
