The Prosecutor's Office requests five years in prison for Miguel Ricart for selling drugs in a drugstore in Raval

The Prosecutor's Office has requested five years in prison for Miguel Ricart, the only one convicted of the triple crime in Alcàsser (Valencia), for allegedly selling drugs in a drugstore that he ran in the Barcelona neighborhood of Raval, since November 2022.

In its letter, to which EFE has had access, the public ministry accuses Ricart and another alleged person responsible for the narco-piso of a crime against public health, who were arrested in December of last year in a joint operation carried out by the Mossos de 'Esquadra and the Urban Guard.

Ricart, 54 years old, was convicted in 1997 after being found guilty of the Alcàsser crime, which occurred in 1992 and in which three teenagers aged 14 and 15 from this municipality were tortured, raped and murdered.

Although his sentence totaled 170 years in prison, in 2013 he was released after seeing his sentence reduced to 21 years due to the suspension of the so-called Parot doctrine, after which he was subjected to "non-invasive" surveillance by the police to prevent him from reoffending.

After his arrest for his alleged relationship with the drug dealer, on December 21 of last year, the court on duty released Miguel Ricart and the other detainee with the obligation to appear before the court every 15 days until the trial was held. for which there is still no date.

The public ministry maintains in its brief that, since November 2022, Ricart and the other accused had been dedicating themselves "to the small-scale distribution of narcotic substances that cause serious damage to health, specifically cocaine and heroin."

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the detainees had made drug trafficking "their livelihood" and sold narcotics in a property located in the Barcelona neighborhood of Raval, where they stored the substances and sold them to consumers who came there.

The police surveillance to which the defendants were subjected revealed that several consumers had gone to the drugstore run by Miguel Ricart to buy small quantities of heroin and cocaine, which led the court to issue an order to enter and search the property.

During the search, the police found cash, a surveillance camera connected to a mobile phone and a plastic gun, while the detainees were surprised by throwing out the window a glasses case that contained three bags of cocaine, a drug that the Prosecutor's Office believe they were intended for illicit sale.
