The pre-nuptial celebration of the bee-eaters

The bee-eaters have arrived again and with a lot of activity, as we see in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia with these images captured in Manlleu, in Osona, where we can observe the prenuptial ceremony of these birds.

In the courtship process, the male hunts and gives food to the female. We see it in this sequence of images:

Now the bee-eaters are mating and preparing the nest, and in early autumn they will leave again, when the young are ready to start the journey back to warmer lands.

As can be seen in the images, it is a bird with very colorful colors, like many African birds, and its nests are on the side of roads. They are deep holes in the earth of the margin.

It is an unmistakable bird, given the multitude of colors it has: blue on the chest, greenish on the belly, cinnamon head, yellow neck and a black stripe that adorns its eye, with a typical insectivore beak, long, thin and somewhat curved.
