The possible visit of Yolanda Díaz to the Valencian campaign stresses Compromís and Podem

Jordi Évole's question to Yolanda Díaz last Sunday was clear and direct: who will he campaign with in Valencia, with Héctor Illueca (Unides Podem candidate for the Generalitat Valenciana) or with Joan Baldoví (Compromís candidate)? The possible visit of Yolanda Díaz to the Valencian campaign stresses Compromís and Podem

Jordi Évole's question to Yolanda Díaz last Sunday was clear and direct: who will he campaign with in Valencia, with Héctor Illueca (Unides Podem candidate for the Generalitat Valenciana) or with Joan Baldoví (Compromís candidate)? The vice president's response did not clear up a mystery that generates considerable expectation among the militancy, and the voters, of two fundamental political coalitions to support the Botànic project after 28M. She implied in that interview, and it seems logical, that the decision will also depend on the willingness of Compromís and Unides Podem to count on her presence in the Valencian campaign that, de facto, has already started.

But the perception in Compromís and Unides Podem of the possibility of Yolanda Díaz campaigning in the Valencian Community offers many nuances. Joan Baldoví, candidate for the Generalitat Valenciana, stressed yesterday that "it is not a priority." And he made it clear that for Compromís the important thing is to focus on the issues that affect Valencians. "We receive everyone with a big hug, but our priority now is to be next to the people who are standing up for the project and offer solutions." "The important thing is this, the other will come," he added.

Sources from the leadership of this party offered a broader explanation. Compromís, they emphasize, is next to Yolanda Díaz in a national key, but they do not want the visit of the Sumar leader "to end up aggravating tensions with Unides Podem." "If the fact that Yolanda Díaz campaigns with us is going to stress us, it is almost better that she not do it," they stressed. The objective for Compromís, they add online of what Baldoví also highlighted is "on May 28, where we are playing a lot of things that matter to people, then the 29th will come and we will talk about everything else".

For their part, in Unides Podem they admit that the tension of these last days between their party and the new project of Vice President Día is not the best scenario to face the campaign. And more so when everything is so even and any detail can end up tipping the balance. For this reason, they would like an agreement to be reached before the appointment with the polls that would pacify the situation. Yesterday, the purple vice president and Unides Podem candidate, Héctor Illueca, was confident that an agreement would be reached between Podemos and Sumar as soon as possible.

Regarding the presence of the visible face of Sumar in coalition acts, Illueca stressed that it is a question that Díaz herself must answer, but that her aspiration is to have the support of all the referents of her political space, from the vice president to Pablo Iglesias. More forceful was the coordinator of Esquerra Unida, Rosa Pérez, who pointed out that she would not find it "understandable" that she campaigned for Compromís.

From Podem they admitted that the national leadership has sent a letter to Díaz to organize the campaign of the autonomic ones and to see in what great electoral acts it can be counted on to reinforce the UP candidates. However, nothing is closed and it cannot be ruled out that, in the campaign, the leader of Sumar tries to please everyone and also makes a gesture to the mayor of Valencia and candidate for re-election, Joan Ribó.

In this context and within the framework of the presentation of an agreement to go together to the regional elections with Los Verdes and Alianza Verde, the candidate for the Generalitat recalled that Sumar is not running for the elections - "Yolanda said that he was not coming and I it did come" - while claiming that they "yes they had added in the Valencian Community" and that those who were not in that large sum (in reference to Compromís) it was because they had not wanted to.

Already involved in hand-to-hand with the Valencian formation, Illueca appealed to those 340,000 voters who in the general elections trusted Unides Podem (that same day for the regional ones many opted for Compromís) to have more strength in the next Botànic. The UP candidate asked the voters to give, in the autonomic ones, continuity to that trust that four years ago they deposited in the lists of United We Can to the Congress.
