The perimeter of the Castellón fire does not advance due to humidity, wind and human work

The heavy load of humidity, human work and the absence of wind during the night from Friday to Saturday have helped to achieve the two objectives set by the Advanced Command Post for the Villanueva de Viver fire (Castellón): that the perimeter of the fire and the trace of the fire advance and reach the CV-195 highway, which connects the towns of Montán and Montanejos.

This was stated in a first assessment of the night by the regional secretary for Security and Emergencies of the Generalitat, José María Ángel, who stressed that the "best ally" of the firefighting personnel has been the weather tonight, adverse since last Thursday in the area. At noon another assessment of the situation will be made.

For this Saturday, around twenty airmen and 500 troops in total are expected to be working in the fight against the fire in this area of Alto Mijares, where late this Friday the fire was advancing faster than expected and was already affecting 4,000 hectares of land. surface in a perimeter of 40 kilometers.

However, according to Ángel, the balance of the night has been "optimal" and the two parameters proposed in the last meeting of the PMA have been achieved: that the perimeter, the flames and the footprint of the fire not advance and that it does not reach the CV-195 between Montón and Montanejos.

Media from different administrations participate in the extinction tasks, including the Castellón Provincial Fire Department, firefighters from the Provincial Consortiums of Alicante and Valencia, from the Castelló and Valencia City Council, forest firefighters from the Generalitat, the Government of Aragon and BRIF of the Ministry.

As a result of the fire, 1,500 people from eight municipalities and districts have been evicted --Los Calpes; Fountain the Queen; Los Cantos-La Monzona; Puebla de Arenoso; Montanejos; Arañuel; Montán and Villanueva de Viver-- and two hostels have been established: the Segorbe Municipal Sports Center and the Onda hostel.

As pointed out this Friday by the Minister of Justice, Gabriela Bravo, it is most likely that the evicted could not return to their homes in 48 hours.
