The Ondas 2023 celebrate teamwork

On a morning more typical of summer than autumn (18 degrees), the Albéniz palace received this Wednesday the winners of the Ondas awards in its 70th edition. Radio, television and music professionals such as Mara Torres, Carlos del Amor, Silvia Intxaurrondo, Marc Giró, Patrick Criado, Coque Malla and Jorge Drexler, among others, gathered at the traditional meeting with the media to show their satisfaction and start warming up for the delivery gala, which was held at night at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The winners in musical categories were the first to arrive. Coque Malla, winner of the lifetime achievement award, stated that he was excited to receive this award “because it is given to you by your colleagues and the profession and that feels especially good” while Jorge Drexler, winner of the Tinta y tiempo tour, was delighted with this Ondas “ because when a tour is awarded, it is not the composer or the singer that is rewarded but rather an entire team and a concept.”

The award for best radio program went to El Faro. Its director and presenter, Mara Torres, considered that with this Ondas “we recognize a new path that we explore to unite radio and listeners, who form the content by contributing ideas, knowledge and a sense of humor. This award is dedicated to the listeners, of course.”

Silvia Intxaurrondo, best television presenter for 'La hora de La 1 (RTVE), responded in Catalan with a “moltes gràcies” to the congratulations of the media and then confessed her adoration for Barcelona. “I arrived in the city just a couple of hours ago and Barcelona welcomed me with open arms, warning me that today is going to be one of the most beautiful and unforgettable days of my life.”

His network partner, Carlos del Amor, was also awarded as best presenter, showing his satisfaction “because someone who does cultural journalism is being rewarded and for information that has the unfair label of lowering the audience and that only deserves the minutes it "There are plenty of news items."

Marc Giro and his LateXou (RTVE Catalunya) won the Ondas for best proximity program. The presenter was surprised that “a program format that we have seen so many times can have something that is still attractive to us.” Is that something you? “I have to see something (laughed) but I also have to say that it is the first time that I obey orders because on television you have to be very obedient.” The journalist also recognized that the success of LateXou “has a lot to do with the spirit of RAC1's Vostè primer.

In fiction, Patrick Criado, winner ex aequo with Juan Diego Botto as best male performer for The Nights of Tefía (Atresplayer), recalled that he felt “a lot of vertigo and fear” when he was offered this role but that it had been worth it “because the series has moved consciences.” The actor understood Ondas “as a reward for the series and all the work the team did.”

Among those satisfied with his work but especially with the protagonist of the documentary was Xavi Torres, director of “Unzué. The last team of Juancar” (3Cat). “This Ondas is a joy for the team but above all because one of the objectives when we started the project was to make noise and raise awareness of a disease as invisible and minority as ALS.” For the journalist, “having managed to turn a small idea from a documentary into a film that has been in major film festivals, in commercial theaters and broadcast on TV3, allows Juan Carlos Unzué to claim that there must be a law on ALS or this is a real disaster.”

At the reception at the Albéniz palace there were notable absences, autumn aside, such as the also awarded Úrsula Corberó, Juan Diego Botto and Ibai Llanos (Gerard Romero attended in his place), who did attend the Liceu gala. The meeting with the media ended with the traditional family photo that was attended by Jaume Collboni, for the first time as mayor of Barcelona, and the president of Prisa, Joseph Oughourlian. Also attending were Javier Godó, Count of Godó and editor-in-chief of La Vanguardia; Carlos Godó, CEO of the Godó Group, and Jordi Juan, director of La Vanguardia.
