The Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen will run the Cursa dels Nassos de Barcelona

The Cursa dels Nassos that will be played through the streets of Barcelona on December 31 will feature an exceptional athlete. Nothing more and nothing less than the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen, one of the most important figures on the international athletic scene. At 22 years old, the Nordic is the current European and world champion of the 5,000 meters and the continental and Olympic king of the 1,500 meters. A true celebrity who will try to break the world record for the 5 kilometers on the road. Because the traditional 10 km race, in which thousands of people participate, is no longer the only one. For two years, a 5-kilometer race of international rank has been held. In fact, in 2021, world records were broken in Barcelona in both the men's and women's categories.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen will not be alone in the last Barcelona race of 2022. At his side will be his two brothers, also of a high level. Filip, fourth in the European Championships, who accredits 3m31s in the 1,500 m and Henrik (bronze medal in a World Championship and European champion of 1,500 in 2012).

It will be the first time that Jakob Ingebrigtsen competes in Spain. “We want the Cursa dels Nassos 2022 to break records again and become a benchmark, both in its popular 10k modality and in international 5k races. With Jakob Ingebrigtsen new expectations are opened and this year we hope to experience a new historic edition”, said David Escudé, Barcelona Councilor for Sports.

In 2021 the Ethiopians Berihu Aregawi, (12m49s) and Ejgayehu Taye (14m19s) achieved the world record in Barcelona.
