The new Pi i Margall street allocates 70% of the space to pedestrians

Pi i Margall is now a street that prioritizes walking and sustainable and local mobility, with speed limited to 30 km/h. New lighting has been installed, the asphalt has been removed and other pavements have been chosen, such as natural stone, and there are more spaces to sit and more pedestrian crossings. The sidewalks are wider, between 5 and 12 meters in some points, and one of them is only interrupted at the intersection with Sardenya, it is almost continuous between Joanic and the Ronda del Guinardó.

Although drought restrictions have not allowed for all the planned plantings, which have been postponed, the area for flower beds has increased from 370 m2 to 3,270 m2 and nearly sixty more trees have been planted. It is a new green corridor that citizens have been able to see first-hand at a party open to everyone this Sunday, December 17, coinciding with the commercial opening holiday.
