The Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit (UDEF) of the National Police searched this Thursday the prefecture of the Guàrdia Urbana de l'Hospitalet de Llobregat seeking information on the controversial call for a superintendent position for the local police, now paralyzed by a court .
The agents wanted to investigate the computer devices on a matter that was complicated from the beginning. The City Council was already forced to suspend the call on one occasion and then it was the courts that paralyzed it after a complaint from one of the applicants, which made a lack of impartiality ugly. A union also challenged.
Sources close to the investigation explained that alleged crimes of prevarication and embezzlement are being investigated. In fact, it was questioned whether l'Hospitalet really needed a position as superintendent, an unusual figure, although it never became effective.
Municipal sources defended that the call was carried out correctly and respect was shown for the police proceedings. The matter will come to trial in July next year, these same sources added.
Ramon Dosaigues, who served as head of the local police in l'Hospitalet and applied for the new position, has finished his commission in the second city of Catalonia and has returned to his old job in El Prat de Llobregat.
Pepe Castro, who during the past term was the mayor in charge of managing the Guàrdia Urbana, has receded into the background and is now no longer a councilor. Now Jesús Husillos is in charge of the Security, Mobility and Human Resources area of the City Council. One of the main challenges for him is to stabilize the situation in the local police.
