Elisabet Jové has been proclaimed the new mayor of Ribera d'Ondara (Lleida) after the no-confidence motion of the Acord Municipal (AM) and Aliança Catalana (AC) groups against the minority government of Francesc Sabanés (PSC). Negotiations between the Republicans and the far-right formation began in January and caused Jové to resign from ERC.
The new mayoress will be on maternity leave and for a few months the mayorship will be taken over by Albert Puig, the only councilor in the municipality of the formation of the mayoress of Ripoll, Silvia Orriols.
Sílvia Orriols has attended the extraordinary plenary session to support Puig. The new mayor has justified the change of government due to "degrading treatment" and poor management.
