The most interesting and surprising wines we have tried lately

Drinking wine is a very interesting sensory experience in every sense. Now that the end of the year is approaching, gatherings between friends and family begin to celebrate. If you want to surprise at your next events, here we leave you a list of interesting wines so that they do the talking for you.

Very interesting and gastronomic white wine where the Grenache grape dominates. It is a very elegant, fresh, fruity and mineral wine. Only a part is aged in barrels and in a short period of 4 months. Notes of stone fruit, lemon and orange peel, aromatic herbs and white flowers predominate. The palate is enveloping, with good acidity and a slightly saline finish.

Another great success from my friends Irene and Laurent, in a wine where the Cariñena grape predominates, a grape that they revere although they are very aware that it will give them work. The name of the wine pays homage to the family farm in Sant Pere Molanta. The wine is intense and powerful with a lot of concentration in black fruit, toast, spices, violets and fine smoked flavors. The mouthfeel is very tasty and with character. Long live this wine, enjoyable at the moment, although it will round out in the bottle.

Going one step further, it is a wine with viticulture and vinification according to the principles of biodynamics and permaculture. It is very fruity, with fresh black fruit, notes of field flowers, herbs and minerals. The palate is balanced but herbaceous in the palate. On the palate, good acidity and fruit make it more juicy. Its finish gives a certain sensation of bitterness and minerality.

This winery of small but interesting productions reveals this treixadura that remained on the lees for 6 months. Its name is due to the A Viñoa farm. The wine is jovial and fruity with apple-like fruit, white plum, pear and lemon. The palate is very refreshing in the palate and in the finish we appreciate herbaceous and flint notes.

I met Juan Carlos at a talk about the importance of sustainability brought to the world of wine and one of the many reasons that contributed to his good practice was to recover this grape in danger of extinction. We find a particular medium-bodied white wine, with white fruit, citrus, flowers and quite expressive. The wine fermented in a 500-liter barrel and remained on the lees for 3 months, something that makes it more enveloping in the mouth.

This winery, promoter of the Denomination of Origin, offers us this Syrah grape that very well expresses the essence of the variety and the descriptors that well define it. The wine is aged for 8 months in barrels which give it a certain complexity. It offers berries, chocolates, tapenade and sweet spices. In the mouth, tannicity and acidity combine in harmony. It is juicy and with an aromatic finish.

In this Albariño we find the essence of a place. It has been made in a traditional way, with patience and under the mandates of biodynamics. The Atlantic breezes and a granitic soil will be key ingredients in the minerality and salinity that can be seen in the wine. A time on the lees respects the fresh and elegant character of the variety, giving it a certain volume.
