The Mossos reinforce patrolling in Calella and arrest four repeat offenders

The controversy generated by the claim of the mayors of Maresme to demand the toughening of penalties for repeat offenders, in support of the mayor of Calella, Marc Buch, who for a couple of years has suffered a wave of robberies by a group of eleven young ex-tutored migrants, has begun to bear fruit. The Generalitat has arrested four of these young people and has increased patrols in the town of Maresme.

Starting this week, the Interior will reinforce the patrol of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Calella (Maresme) to act against the activity of the criminal group that has accumulated more than 260 arrests since May. It is one of the main agreements of the meeting held by the mayor of Calella (Maresme), Marc Buch, and the general director of the Police, Pere Ferrer. The Mosos of the ABP of Arenys de Mar, to which the Pineda sub-police station belongs, will be able to work overtime. Several ARRO units have arrived precisely in Pineda.

Apart from the actions of the eleven repeat offenders, the Alt Maresme has demanded that in the summer season, when the population triples and the tourist area has maximum reserves, more mossos be incorporated. The forecast, according to Interior, is to expand the staff assigned to the region, which is now 94 for Alt Maresme. Likewise, as Marc Buch has done, the Department of the Interior will negotiate with the Prosecutor's Office so that it can increase requests for preventive detention in the case of multiple repeat offenders.

Marc Buch has expressed his satisfaction with the Interior's response and the commitment that allows the police to increase pressure against the group of repeat offenders. According to the neighbors "now you can see police patrolling through Calella" which they acknowledge "never happened before."

This increase in police pressure has allowed the arrest of four of the criminals who make up the repeat offender group, who have been placed in preventive detention. This fact has reduced criminal activity, although neighbors warn that "they are still seen on the streets" and demand the dismantling of the group that has been living off crime for months.
