The Mossos dismantle a marijuana plantation in a new raid in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana

This Monday, the Mossos d'Esquadra dismantled a marijuana plantation on a rural property in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana (Barcelona) and also arrested a 40-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health and for fraud. of the electrical fluid.

It was the city council's technical services who notified the police when they detected an "illegal modular construction", four bags with marijuana plants and the use of public street lighting to connect several air conditioning units and electrical wiring.

According to police sources, a total of 1,369 marijuana plants, 2,300 cuttings, 40 grams of hashish and a "recently built technical facility that allowed an annual profitability of 990,000 euros" have been located.

The Mossos statement ensures that both the collaboration of the municipality's local police and the city council's technical services have been key to the success of the operation.

This police action is framed in a context of growing fight by the Mossos d'Esquadra against organized crime specialized in the trafficking of hashish and marijuana, which has become one of the force's priorities. Today's raid thus adds to the numerous operations of this type that have been carried out in recent years.

Precisely, according to the press release published by the Mossos this Tuesday, this year alone 11,685 kilos of hashish have been seized and a total of 912 people have been arrested, of which 84 are closely related to organized crime.

For the moment, researchers have detected that local groups provide services to state and international organizations and consider that, unlike marijuana trafficking, hashish has not yet penetrated the legal sectors of society.
