The mayor of Alicante and candidate of the Popular Party for re-election, Luis Barcala, has announced this Wednesday the incorporation of the president of the Lucentum Foundation and CEO of CF Intercity, Toni Gallego, in his electoral candidacy for the elections on May 28.
"I am very happy and excited about the incorporation of Toni to the team that I will present for the next municipal elections," Barcala said in a statement. "We all know his brilliant career at the helm of Lucentum, which makes him a great signing for Alicante and for sports in Alicante", he added.
For his part, Gallego thanked the confidence shown by Luis Barcala: "I join his team to continue promoting sport in Alicante. We need to continue betting on sports infrastructures and everything that this city deserves".
Born in Alicante in 1975 and with a degree in Economics from the University of Alicante, Gallego's personal and professional career has always been linked to sport, to the point that he was a professional basketball player. He held the presidency of Lucentum as a Sports Public Limited Company between 2013 and 2015 and since 2015 he has chaired the Lucentum Foundation.
