The lightweight electric bike that is foldable: it can be stored in any hole

Electric bicycles are increasingly present in daily mobility and, thanks to their versatility, many cyclists are interested in having one of them, whether it is to go to work, to enjoy free time or to exercise. When choosing one, you have to assess the needs of each person, since there are a large number of specific products for each type of use.

For those looking for a compact and easy-to-store alternative, the British manufacturer Oxfo offers an interesting proposal. This is the OX1 folding electric bicycle, which is distinguished by its lightness, among other features. The vehicle has a magnesium alloy frame and, thanks to its folding system design, the cyclist can easily transport it like a trolley when not in use.

In terms of appearance, the OX1 stands out for its minimalist character, with a fairly simplified box that houses all the cables inside, which gives it a clean aesthetic. The hinge of this electric bicycle is conveniently located in front of the seat tube in order to facilitate the folding operation.

And it is that, in just 10 seconds, it folds completely and the wheels are placed in parallel. This allows the rider to use the saddle or handlebars to push the bike or lift it when necessary. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new Oxfo bike weighs just 16.5kg.

With regard precisely to its lightness, it must be borne in mind that the manufacturer points out that the magnesium alloy frame is 33% lighter than an equivalent aluminum one, which becomes an advantage when transporting the bicycle . For electrical assistance, the vehicle integrates a 250 W motor with 45 Nm of torque, mounted at the rear.

The motor is powered by a lithium battery housed in the seat post and offering a capacity of 6.4 Ah. Regarding the level of benefits, it should be noted that the maximum speed of the OX1 is 25 km/h and, thanks to the three modes of electrical assistance, it can easily climb steep slopes.

As far as autonomy is concerned, this can vary depending on road conditions and driving style, but it can reach up to 100 km of range with each charge. This recharging process is completed in a time of between three and four hours. Among the equipment included in the bike are a torque sensor, a rear shock absorber and an LED headlight.

The vehicle rides on 16-inch Kenda tires and has a disc brake system. The price of this new electric bike is around 1,300 euros, including the launch promotion, and the first deliveries are scheduled for next August. If you are interested in seeing it in action, you just have to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
