The Kings and their daughters brave the rain to go out in a procession in Madrid

Incognito and, without prior notice, the Kings, together with their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, have braved the rain that fell in Madrid this Saturday to attend the procession of Our Lady of Solitude and Helplessness. The image, however, has not been able to make the planned journey due to bad weather, although it has briefly left the Calatrava church, located on Alcalá Street. The faithful who were waiting to see the procession were content with the presence of the Kings and their daughters who walked around greeting the people who had gathered in the area.

This Holy Saturday, La Zarzuela seems to have improvised a joint appearance by the Kings and their daughters, Leonor and Sofía, in another religious event, after the favorable reception and impact of the presence of Queen Sofía last Holy Thursday in Malaga to attend the transfer. , in the arms of legionaries, of the Christ of the Good Death, and his attendance, together with Infanta Cristina, at the procession, on Good Friday, of the Christ of the Alabarderos, in Madrid.

The Kings and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, attended last year the living Via Crucis of Chinchón (Madrid) that is performed every Holy Saturday. An activity that is considered private but that Zarzuela communicated several hours in advance so that the media could attend. On this occasion, the royal presence has been documented by photographers covering Holy Week in Madrid who, without knowing it in advance, have encountered the presence of the Kings and their daughters.

Like every year, it was planned that the image of the Virgin of Solitude and Helplessness would leave the Calatrava church at six in the afternoon to begin a journey from Alcalá street and meet at a certain point with the passage of Christ Lying, but the rain has prevented the celebration, although both steps have briefly left the church. The image of the Virgin, the work of Juan de Mena, dates back to the 18th century and that of the Recumbent Christ left the Olot workshops last century. During their brief journey, the two steps have been carried on the shoulders of members of the congregation, accompanied by the Soledad band and the El Maestro musical group.
