The King hopes to gain ground from the sea

Let's see if we go up a little step". The King said this Tuesday before embarking on the Aifos at the start of the second day of regattas of the Copa del Rey Mapfre de Vela, in which it is already guessed as the edition in which Felipe VI will complete its participation in all the tests. After the first regatta, held on Monday, the boat of which the King is skipper was in fourth position in the general classification.

"It's a pleasure to navigate, there was a desire", was the comment that the King made on Monday at the end of the visit that he carried out with Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía to the Alfabia gardens in Mallorca, when he was asked about their participation in the regattas. Always realistic, Felipe VI is aware that the competition with other ships is tough and the Aifos, despite being among the favorites and having members of the Navy who live and work at sea in its crew, has to fight all the days.

Since he arrived in Palma last Wednesday, Don Felipe has sailed with Aifos for four days, in two training sessions and in the two days played in the Cup.

After yesterday's inaugural regatta, the Navy sailboat ranked third in the Majorica ORC1 class, in which thirteen other boats are participating.

“It could have gone better or it could have gone worse. Let's hope it improves", is what the King said regarding the first day of regattas, referring to the prospects of Aifos in the competition, which will end next Saturday, the 5th.

This Tuesday, Felipe VI arrived at the Real Club Náutico de Palma driving a Cupra Formentor brand car and immediately went to the jetty to board the Aifos, where the crew was waiting to set sail for the regatta course.
