The housing construction projects in Catalonia that have stood out in 2023

Some prizes that recognize the work of the housing development and construction sector and that highlight their condition as key agents for generating value and boosting the economy, progress and well-being of society.

This is what the Association of Promoters of Catalonia (APCE) intends with the APCE Awards, which this year celebrate their second edition. The application period is now open. As its president, Xavier Vilajoana, explains, “these awards seek to give value to the work of all those developers and builders who dignify our sector. They are a good way of recognizing this important task and of giving voice to a sector that is absolutely necessary for the development of neighborhoods and cities and to improve the well-being of families in Catalonia, since they highlight the condition of developers and builders as agents key to generating value and boosting the economy, progress and well-being of the territory”.

The APCE Awards, Vilajoana points out, also intend that each award-winning category serve as a milestone not only for the winners, but for the group of companies in the sector that promote urban regeneration and rehabilitation, sustainability, innovation and technology, social commitment and involvement in the territory, among other areas.

The president of the APCE defends that, "contrary to what people usually think, the developer-builder sector is a pioneer in innovation, sustainability and energy efficiency, in research into new housing models, in regeneration, in job creation and rooted in the territory... We know it, but it is necessary for the whole of society to know this reality of the sector, which is made up of both traditional trades and new, more innovative and industrialized construction systems”.

Applications are open until June 21st and natural and/or legal persons with relevant business and/or institutional activities located and/or based in Catalonia, who have excelled in one of the categories, opt.

Vilajoana encourages professionals, companies and institutions in the sector who think they may be eligible to win one of the APCE 2023 Awards to consult the legal bases and decide to submit a candidacy, and thus contribute to consolidating this celebration as the festival of the sector in Catalonia. .

The legal bases of the 2023 APCE Awards can be consulted on the APCE website. The categories that are awarded this year are innovation and technology, sustainability, urban regeneration and rehabilitation, involvement in the territory and social commitment. The APCE 2023 Awards have a jury made up of the main representatives of recognized and representative organizations, institutions and business entities in the field of housing and urban planning. Once all the applications have been gathered, the jury will formalize an assessment of the winners with the most relevant conclusions that support their decision. The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony, scheduled for October in Barcelona.

The first edition of the APCE Awards was held on October 25, 2022 at an event at CosmoCaixa, in Barcelona. The event was presided over by the General Secretary of the Territory Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Joan Jaume Oms, and welcomed nearly 300 personalities and professionals from the development-construction sector, as well as from civil society and business.

In the Innovation and technology category, the winner was the CULMIA project “La Marina Isla C” (Barcelona). The Sustainability award went to the promotion of 21 HPO homes from the public company VIMUSA. The award for Involvement in the territory went to the company PMP Cases, and, finally, the category of Social Commitment recognized the project "Problems of housing in vulnerable groups: a socially responsible response", developed by SOGEVISO.
