The great natural viewpoint of Punta de la Banya

As can be seen in this photograph in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos, the Montsià mountain range is an exceptional viewpoint from where we can see the Punta de la Banya of the Ebro Delta, a fragile space that little by little the sea erases due to the temporary ones, a place that houses species and organisms to be protected, of great environmental value and a spectacle to behold.

The Montsià mountain range is a mountain range, parallel to the Mediterranean coast, located south of the Terres de l'Ebre. It extends from the Ebro river (in the north) to the Sénia river (in the south), with a length of 20 kilometers and a width of 6 km.

Its highest point is Pic del Montsià at (764 m), although one of the most charismatic peaks is La Foradada, which, at almost 700 m above sea level, is a magnificent natural viewpoint over the Delta.

The Montsià mountain range is of great biogeographic interest as it constitutes the southern limit for some extra-Mediterranean species, such as the palmate newt, and an important enclave of southern elements, such as the ofegabous, very rare in the rest of Catalonia. It therefore has notable faunal interest.

For its part, Punta de la Banya, located in Sant Carles de la Ràpita, houses a very interesting environment and fauna and flora. Els Alfacs bay is the habitat of a large number of waterfowl. In addition, El Trabucador is a perfect spot for observing these birds.
