The Government wants to make the extraordinary unemployment benefit compatible with a job

The Government wants to make the collection of 25% of the extraordinary unemployment subsidy (120 euros) compatible with a job for a maximum of 12 months, explained sources consulted. The measure that could enter into force in four or six months would benefit the around 900,000 people who receive this subsidy that amounts to 480 euros.

The possibility of making the benefit compatible with a job already exists, but only for those over 52 years of age. The measure is intended to improve the employability of the unemployed who have been in that situation for many months. In reality, this benefit of 480 euros, which is determined by being 80% of the public indicator of multiple effects income (IPREM), is received by the unemployed when they have exhausted their corresponding contributory benefit.

The measure is part of the regulatory development of the Employment Law that has been approved today in the Congress of Deputies. This rule is intended to improve active employment policies, after incorporating the five amendments introduced by the Senate. It emphasizes that the law establishes that the Labor Inspectorate will make a report to verify that the circumstances required to present an employment regulation file (ERE) exist and includes an amendment to ensure the unattachability of the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI).

Congress has accepted, without any vote against, the amendments introduced in the Senate, at the proposal of Teruel Existe and JxCAT, to improve the employability of people with disabilities and the training of public employees in this regard, as well as to give greater relevance to social economy entities.

Among the objectives of the law, which regulates the new Spanish Employment Agency, is to promote a more efficient active employment policy with specialized attention to priority groups, among which are victims of gender violence, transgender people and people with disabilities, among others.

The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, has assured that this norm "is succeeding in the transformation of active employment policies" with the aim of improving the employability of workers, because "the right to work exists in our Constitution ", reports Efe.
