The Government approves the largest job offer with almost 40,000 jobs, 15% more than in 2022

The Council of Ministers has approved this Tuesday a record public job offer to reinforce the staff of the State Administration, with special attention to Social Security and customer service.

The large numbers were known this Monday after the agreement between the Treasury and the CSIF and UGT unions, but today the Government has explained the details. There are a total of 39,754 jobs for the General State Administration, the Administration of Justice, the National Police, the Civil Guard and the Armed Forces, which is 15.8% more than the public job offer of 2022.

The offer, approved twelve days before the general elections, is very focused on reinforcing face-to-face care, given that more than 40% of the total number of places are allocated to personnel who deal with these tasks. In this field, the focus is especially focused on Social Security, one of the organizations that has raised the most complaints due to its deficiencies in citizen service, and to which 2,500 jobs will be specifically allocated to correct them.

"It is a record figure due to the objective need to strengthen the workforce after years of cuts and zero replacement rates in previous governments," said the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, when presenting the agreement after the Council of Ministers. Record figure due to objective need to strengthen staff.

The 39,574 places offered represent a third consecutive record of places offered, after those of 2021 and 2022. Of this total, 27,246 correspond to the free shift, to those who join the administration, while the remaining 12,328 will be for internal promotion. It should be noted that of the free shifts, there are 8,625 jobs that will serve to create net employment, and that 18,621 correspond to replacement rates.

In the distribution by organisms, it is the State Administration that takes the vast majority of places. 29,818 will be offered, of which 19,947 are free entry and 9,871 internal promotion. The rest is distributed among the Administration of Justice (1,907 positions), the National Police Corps (2,833), the Civil Guard (2,875), and also the Armed Forces, with 2,141 positions already approved in May.

On the other hand, this offer of public employment also focuses on reducing the temporality in the management of the Minimum Vital Income, so that 1,525 places will be allocated to reduce the temporality in the management of these aids.

It is also planned to consolidate the replacement rate, so that all cancellations produced in the previous year are covered. To achieve this, a general replacement rate of 110% is applied, which increases to 120% in priority sectors, such as health and education, and 125% for the National Police and Civil Guard.

The decision of the Council of Ministers is taken with the endorsement of two unions CSIF and UGT, which consider that the increase in positions achieved stands out, while CC.OO. distanced itself from the agreement achieved due to lack of detailed information on the call.
